Of all the times I had been to Watridge Lake, I had never made the short trip to Karst Springs.
I didn't even know exactly what the trail to Karst Springs entailed. The start required walking on wooden beams elevated above a boggy marsh, so we left our skis behind at Watridge Lake.

Looking up at the lookout platform |
After the wooden beams was a short hike along an easy trail until the springs themselves, at which point a steep trail leads up to a wooden lookout platform.

The water flowing from the springs made interesting ice formations |
It was a very peaceful and interesting spot, especially in the winter.
|
Similar to stalactites, but formed from dripping away from the underlying branches |
We hung around for a while, taking photos and enjoying the sound of rushing water.

I wasn't the only one who thought the ice formations were fascinating |
On the way back, we did a few of the side trails, but they were all very thin in terms of snow coverage. In some places, we were skiing on grass and dirt. However, it was a great day and I'm always glad to see a new place.
