Middle Sister

With the move completed and being mostly (but not completely) unpacked, it was time to start taking advantage of my new surroundings. First up, Middle Sister.

This was Teresa and Ryan's idea, and they foolishly thought that by having me along, it would increase their chances of finding the correct trail.

On the plus side, we got to explore the drainage west of Stewart Creek and got a nice closeup of The Rimwall.

Traversing back towards the Three Sisters

It was not too difficult getting back on track, once it was clear that we were in the incorrect drainage. By the time we got to the boulder fields, it was already late and we decided to take a break before heading back to the car.

Taking a nap at the boulder fields

We saw about 3 other groups either on their way up or coming back down off Middle Sister.

The Rimwall

There was one snow patch on the way up to Middle Sister which worried me, so I think it was correct to not continue.

Dwarfed by the Middle Sister

The way back down was steep and loose in parts, with some snow to add to the excitement. We found the spot where our original route went awry, so for next time we will be ready. I'm not sure how I missed that cairn.
