Last batch of films from the Banff Mountain Film Festival.
Last Light
Was this another time lapse photography movie? I can't recall.
WILD SCANDINAVIA - Sweden
A documentary about a variety of wildlife in Sweden. Not that compelling.
Moonwalk
Slacklining. Woo.
The Way Home
Interesting movie about the lack of visible minorities in the U.S. national parks. Do Canadian national parks have the same issue? I don't think so, but don't have the numbers to say either way.
Autana
You could call this a climbing movie, but it's more a movie about adventure and exploration. Some people go to great lengths to tick off first ascents.
Nuit Blanche - A Sleepless Night
It wasn't clear if this was a re-enactment or entirely fiction, but it was moving nonetheless.
Living Wild
My choice for the Peoples' Choice award. A small group of young people attempt to live off the land, using only things that they themselves have made. The last scene felt gratuitous, but the rest of the film was very interesting.
Spearhead Soul Skiing
Short film about ski touring. Gets me in the mood for some skinning.
REEL Rock 7: Honnold 3.0
Alex Honnold solos the 3 biggest faces in Yosemite in 24 hours. My favourite climbing movie of the festival.
Terra Sacra Time Lapses
Time lapse photography was popular this year. They're nice, but more than one seems like too many.
NATURE: River of No Return
Living in the Idaho wilderness for ... a year? I can't recall. I enjoyed this.
Unicorn Sashimi
Skiing in shoulder-deep powder in Hokkaido.
The Gimp Monkeys
Akemi's favourite movie, about 3 disabled climbers doing the first all-disabled ascent of El Cap.
