The weather has been a bit weird this winter. The past three weeks saw Calgary pass some historical temperature highs, and rain has been in the forecast for many regions. Fortunately, we've also had our share of bluebird days, and what little snow is left is best used for cross country skiing, which doesn't require as much snow as backcountry or resort skiing.
Things are melting around the Spray River |
Carol and I decided to check out the Spray River trail, and maybe do the loop, first on the west side, then the east.
Ice floes dissolving rapidly |
It was a beautiful day, with only a few groups out on the trail. Maybe everyone was hung over?

The condition on both sides of the loop were excellent. Recently, Banff got some rain so it may not be as good as when we did it though.
Toboggan run |
For a change, we skied all the way back to the golf course, then decided to check out the toboggan area. I even did a run down on my skis.
I will probably come back at some point this season and do the entire Goat Creek trail from Canmore to Banff and back. Conditions seem like they will be good enough very soon. It has been a winter of cross country, with more to come!
