Working our way down the list, Ralston Peak is the 13th highest in the Desolation Wilderness, at 9235 feet / 2815 metres.
With the craziness of the long weekend upon us, we wanted to find a quieter place to spend our time, while also continuing the trend of exploring good ski touring areas nearby. The trailhead for Ralston Peak is only 20 minutes from our house, fitting the bill nicely.

A steady uphill for the entire time. |
The start of the trail is quite lush, with the winter snowpack still feeding the vegetation, even though it hasn't rained in over 2 months.

From the summit of Ralston Peak, you can see everything. |
As we broke through treeline, some wildflowers were still in bloom, and there were many bees and butterflies making good use of them.

Wildflowers and butterflies. |

I look forward to visiting this area again in the winter!
