Pinyon Ridge

We saw one other person the entire day!

My favourite place for finding solitude is the Anza-Borrego desert. The trails are not so well traveled that it's impossible to get lost, and you have to rely a bit on your instincts to figure out where to go.

Even the drive to the trailhead was a bit of an unknown, as there wasn't much signage to help us out. Eventually, we found ourselves at something that resembled a dead end in the road, and that is where we started walking.

There were lots of opportunities for rock hopping
Fortunately, being the "high desert", it wasn't too hot. There certainly wasn't any shade to hide under though.

I find it amazing that things can actually survive in such places

Looking east toward the Great Salton Sea

Great texture for scrambling

Relaxing after lunch

One of the few trees in the area, albeit not doing so well

This was more the norm in terms of vegetation

We eventually found ourselves in a gully that started to lose elevation, and in the distance we could see a highway, so that seemed as good of a place as any to turn around and head back to the car.

Contemplating life
With the scenery everywhere looking the same, I did peek at my gps a few times to make sure that we were headed in the right direction.
