Josephine Peak

A peaceful peak with an easy trail and nice views.

After a short hiatus, we're back with more team hikes. This time, we decided to check out Josephine Peak, in the Angeles Forest.

Start of the hike, with the summit ridge in the background
The trail goes up an old fire road, so it never gets particularly steep or loose. The switchbacks are perhaps a bit more plentiful than one might want on a hike, but it was easy to have conversations and let the mind wander.

Unidentified plant
There were many wildflowers in bloom. It had last rained less than a week ago, so there were some colours on display.

Los Angeles, off in the distance
As we gained elevation, the breeze got progressively cooler, which was nice as it was a mostly sunny day with temps in the mid 20C's (mid 70F's).

On the summit, with the remains of an old fire lookout?
We saw three groups coming down as we were heading up, but we had the entire summit to ourselves for what seemed like a good half hour. Lunch was had, as were some photos, before we started back down.

Some sort of wild lavender?
All in all, a good day with a peaceful summit and good company.
