Crowfoot Pass

I'm finally taking advantage of my time "between jobs".

Mid-week skiing is finally in the cards for me. On Wednesday, I had a fantastic time at Kicking Horse, and today I had the chance to do some touring with Angie.

Avalanche conditions are very touchy right now, with very warm temperatures, lots of new snow, and even a bit of rain to make things interesting. Spring seems to be early this season, and Crowfoot Pass seemed like a good option.

We saw a couple of other groups, but overall it was a quiet day and we broke trail above treeline. There were a few signs of slides, but nothing too recent, and the cornices off of Crowfoot Mountain were not as big as I expected.

On the pass
The snow was very wind affected at the pass, but improved as we dropped below treeline. We didn't ski any exposed slopes, but the skiing in the trees was quite good. I'm glad to have visited this area again, perhaps for the last time in a long while.
