An out-and-back route up Mount San Bernardino.
This route starts from the town of Forest Falls, which is the usual start for Mount San Gorgonio (via the Vivian Creek trail). Being a little less popular, it appealed to my sensibilities. Besides which, Aki had not done San Bernardino yet.

Some threatening clouds seen from the parking lot |
As the trail starts from town, we saw plenty of people along the first section (both on the way and out). But a couple of kilometres in and we had the trail mostly to ourselves.
|
Lots of cacti along the trail |
The summit of San Bernardino is not that spectacular, and actually somewhat easy to miss, but this trail proved to be different in terms of views than the (more common?) one from Angelus Oaks.

Overcast skies made for good lighting |
All in all, probably the more scenic of the options up San Bernardino.
