Lake O'Hara

The last day on classic skis for the season.

We didn't get a chance to have brunch at the Lake O'Hara lodge this season, as last weekend was the last time it was offered this winter. However, Ivan and Yoko were going to ski the fire road anyway, so they invited us to join them and John.

It was another beautiful bluebird day, with temps approaching double digits. Even here, where classic skiing could extend into May, things were falling apart quickly. Wet, icy conditions made the tour up difficult and frustrating, and the transition from shade (fast) to sun (slow) made for awkward skiing down.

Fortunately, the views made up for the effort required. We sat on a little island in the middle of Lake O'Hara, having lunch and hoping that the lake wouldn't melt while we sat there, leaving us stranded.

A beautiful place to have lunch
The classic skis are now waxed up for storage. Hopefully, the other skis will still see some use before they suffer the same fate.
