Mount Black Prince

Things are getting crusty.

My trip to Elk Lakes hut was coming up, and with my struggles with the new skis, I wanted to get in one more touring day. Things have been warming up lately, so the skiing has been best on north facing and sheltered slopes. The tree triangle on Mount Black Prince sounded like a good place to check out.

"I guess we'll start skiing from here ..."
On our way up, as the trees started thinning, Angie had a "gear issue". The decision on how high to go up was made for us at that point.

Lower down, the snow was much better
On the way down through the glades, we stayed pretty far from the gully and exited into a large clearing. We had perfect powder most of the way down, and it didn't appear as though this line was skied often.

Our exit from the trees. Note the small gap in the trees a bit left of centre ... I think that's the trail to the cirque
We managed to connect back to the main trail and made a short day of it.
